Fotis obtained his PhD from the Democritus University of Thrace. He has trained in human genomics and studies the genetics of complex diseases, especially neuropsychiatric and metabolic disorders. He specializes in the genomic analysis of big data generated by high-throughput technologies and the development of analytic pipelines. He also has a strong interest in population genetics, archaeogenetics and the evolutionary history of modern humans. He currently participates in ELIXIR, an international effort to coordinate and develops life science resources across Europe so that researchers can more easily find, analyse and share data, exchange expertise, and implement best practices.

Mary Kaka obtained a BS in Microbiology and MS in Medical Microbiology and Biotechnology from Adeleke University, Nigeria. The vast majority of her past research focused on computational biology and bioinformatics, including some studies on antimicrobial resistance. She is currently a PhD student in the Lab of Dr. Paschou and is working on studying the genetics of complex trait diseases and bioinformatics.

Pritesh Jain, PhD student, Dept of Biological Sciences, Purdue University
